MEAP

The Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) helps eligible Michigan households manage their home energy costs. Assistance may include help paying electric, natural gas, propane, and other home heating bills.
You may qualify for assistance if:
- Your household income is at or below 60% of Michigan’s State Median Income, based on your household size.
- You participate in certain assistance programs, such as SNAP (food assistance), SSI, TANF, WIC, Head Start, or the Home Heating Credit.
- Your utility provider participates in the state’s Low-Income Energy Assistance Fund. THAW will help determine this.

Michigan residential customers with past-due water bills may be eligible for up to $750 in payment assistance per household.
Additional supportive services may include wraparound support and connections to internal and external community resources to help address other household needs.
